General maintenance
In order that the ActivBoard works as it should in the classroom there are a few pointers to ensuring that all works smoothly.
- Clean the projector filters every two weeks, (refer to the manufacturers’ manuals).
- Encourage staff to turn off projectors when the board is not in use for long periods e.g. recess and lunch
- Clean the surface of the ActivBoard with dry-wipe marker board cleaner. A polish with standard household spray polish will restore the smooth
writing surface after cleaning. - The surface of the ActivBoard is made to very high standards of durability. In normal use you can expect satisfactory results every time with
proper maintenance. - Cover the projector and ActivBoard during school holidays in order to protect it from general school maintenance work.
- Display a notice adjacent to the ActivBoard instructing teachers not to write on the surface with marker pens.
Frequently Asked Questions
My calibration is off how can I fix this?
There are a couple of ways you can calibrate the pen to the board.
- Hover the tip of the ActivPen over the flame and hold it until the calibration screen appears.
- Click on the ActivManager icon in your system tray and select Calibrate.
Once the calibration screen is up follow the onscreen instructions. You should click on a total of 5 cross hairs for a complete calibration.
My pen has stopped working on the board?
Try another known working pen on the board and see if the issue replicates. If the second pen is fine try the first pen again and contact Support if pen still does not work
My Board is spiking what do I do?
Try the following:
- First try a different ActivPen.
- Next try resetting the power to the board.
- Ensure the ActivDriver and Software is up-to-date.
- Try connecting a different computer connected to the board.
I don’t have the ‘subjects’ folder in my Shared Resources

How do I update my ActivInspire software?
ActivInspire is frequently being updated with added features and tools. To update your ActivInspire software open ActivInspire then go to ‘Help’ in the main menu and ‘Check for Updates’. (ActivInspire 1.6 now will automatically check for updates)

Promethean has a technical support line, which can be used by schools for technical and software assistance.
The number is 1800 075 943 which can be accessed from 8.30 am to 5.30 pm, Monday to Friday. If there is a warranty issue, the helpline can be contacted to have the issue diagnosed over the phone (have your ActivBoard serial number ready). If the issue is diagnosed as a warranty problem then a warranty job number is issued to your site.
